EMAIL TO ENROL NOW – [email protected] / 01949 20640

This term you are invited to plan your own topic, and I will help you develop your own paintings
that give you pleasure. However, for those who want to follow a traditional program
of work, we shall be exploring the requested and popular themes of portraits.

Week 1 – 28th, 29th, 30th September
A full face portrait in black and white to understand tonal values.
You could use pencils or charcoal but I will demonstrate in acrylic and watercolour.
Next week you may wish to finish your painting.
OR
Explore colour through glazes over a neutral base. If you are using oils or acrylic paint,
prepare a canvas painted with a mix of raw sienna toned down a little, so that it is dry
for next week. Acrylic painters will require thinning or glazing medium.

Watercolorists can bring in a stretched grey or buff paper and white gouache.

Please bring in a photograph of yourself or use a picture provided in class, or use a mirror.

Week 2 – 5th, 6th, 7th October
A week to continue with a painting you have already started, or work with glazes over a neautral base.
A demonstration will be given.

Week 3 12th, 13th, 14th October
You may wish to continue to finish your painting or explore a profile view of a person, child or animal.
Reference will be made to Singer Sergeant, working in a classic style in full colour.
This will be a lovely opportunity to use oils, but bring watercolour, acrylics or pastels if you prefer.
Demonstrations given.

Half Term – 26th, 27th, 28th October
