Welcome to a new exciting term of painting! This will run for 11 sessions with the theme of “Colour”. We will explore colour in differing styles and mainly with acrylics/oils and watercolour/mixed media.
The sessions take place at East Bridgford Village Hall on Wednesdays from 9.30 – 11.30am and Thursdays at 2 – 4pm, and at Silverdale Community Centre on Fridays at 1.30 – 3.30 pm. All classes are interchangeable. Please join a class but if you miss it one week you are invited to make it up at another class so you do not miss out. Refunds cannot be given for extra holidays that you may decide to take once the term has started. The term is £126.50. However, for regular Friday members returning from last term it is £115. This is because a missed session is to be refunded to you. Any brand new members starting have the first week free before deciding to pay £115 for the full course.
Enrol and pay on the first week. Thank you.
Materials will be provided free on the first week and the course includes a free A6 size note book to assist you in making notes each week.

Course outline for Autumn 2019
Theme: “Colour”
Week 1: Bring in 5 small objects that are special to you. These could be things you found on a beach or holiday, in the garden, in an old draw. We will draw the objects in pencils talking about size, texture and shapes. We will plan to use the images in a painting the following week.
Week 2: We will explore colour schemes and create a painting using the 5 objects to create a more interesting composition, suggested medium is acrylics but you can choose which you prefer.
Week 3: We will continue to discuss colour theory and create a painting in blocks of colour referencing artists such as Becky Bettesworth and others as a contrast in style for inspiration.
Week 4: Time to finish the painting from last week and review/discuss results so far.
Week 5: Autumn colours and how to mix subtle colours for a landscape. A demonstration in watercolours and acrylics to contrast techniques.
Week 6: Time to finish the painting.
Week 7: Looking at colours for the changing seasons. We will take a simple image such as a tree and repeat the image using different colour schemes.
Week 8: Using white to create a winter scene and snow. To include wildlife and looking at wild life artists.
Week 9: Time to finish the painting.
Week 10: Using black with highlights. Subject a black animal with bright eyes or a night time subject with lights. To be decided by the class.
Week 11: To finish and review the terms work. It is lovely to bring a piece framed or mounted for this ending session with mince pies.
